Introduction to Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion relies on specialized microcrystals to exfoliate the outermost layer of skin, revealing a more supple, radiant complexion free from blemishes and superficial damage. This unique treatment is one of the most popular non-invasive treatments performed in medical aesthetics today!

Le Beau Visage Medical Spa in Frisco, Texas, provides microdermabrasion treatments to patients all over the North Dallas and Plano metropolitan areas, including but not limited to Frisco, McKinney, and Allen, Texas.

What is a Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical, non-invasive treatment designed to eradicate common signs of aging, such as:

  • Fines lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Enlarged pores
  • Age spots
  • Liver spots
  • Rosacea
  • Melasma
  • Stretch marks
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Dull skin tone
  • And more!

The treatment exfoliates the skin’s surface to achieve a brighter, clearer complexion without lasers or chemicals. During a microdermabrasion session, specialized mineral crystals make contact with the skin via a handpiece. As the device passes over the target area, it evenly coats the skin with crystals in less than 30 minutes. Microdermabrasion not only clears debris, dead skin cells, oil, and buildup but also stimulates the production of new healthy skin cells. While most commonly performed on the face, it can also be used to treat the neck, arms, back, chest, legs, and hands.

Who Are the Best Candidates for a Microdermabrasion?

If you are unhappy with a dull skin tone, signs of aging, and environmental damage, microdermabrasion might be the ideal treatment for resolving your concerns. While most patients will qualify to receive this non-invasive rejuvenation option, those with fragile vascular lesions, active acne, warts, open sores, psoriasis, lupus, or uncontrolled diabetes should avoid microdermabrasion. The treatment is also unsuitable for pregnant or nursing moms. Our team will conduct a thorough physical evaluation and review of your medical history to double-check that the treatment is safe for you. If not, we can recommend several other aesthetic solutions.

Let’s Get Started

What’s the First Step?

Your cosmetic journey begins with a private consultation at our luxury Medspa in Frisco, TX. We will discuss your goals, analyze your skin, and delve into your medical history, creating a unique treatment plan tailored to your wishes. Once your treatment date is set, you should take care to follow a few important guidelines. Avoid tanning (including creams and sprays) for at least a week before microdermabrasion. Also, don’t wax or tweeze the targeted areas.

What to Expect on the Day of a Microdermabrasion Treatment

With microdermabrasion, no anesthesia or numbing agent is typically necessary. During your appointment, you will sit back in a comfortable reclining chair. Your provider will use a specialized handheld device with microcrystals at the tip, gliding it across the skin’s surface to remove dead skin cells and other impurities. Afterward, you are free to resume your normal schedule.

Microdermabrasion Recovery

Recovery time after microdermabrasion is minimal. However, you may feel like you have a mild sunburn. Patients should follow a few critical tips after their treatment:

  • Protect the skin with sunblock and stay out of direct sun for at least one week
  • Keep the skin clean and moisturized using only gentle products
  • Use anti-inflammatory lotions and cold compresses as needed to reduce any discomfort
  • Avoid picking at, scratching, or massaging the treated areas
  • For one to two days, avoid medications containing glycolic acid, beta hydroxy, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, or similar ingredients.
